WriterHouse events: September and October

1. Fall Early Registration Deadline

This Friday (September 4) is the deadline for early registration for the fall session. Classes begin September 26th and include: Mystery Writing, Beginning Creative Writing, Poetry, Fiction, and Nonfiction, as well as half-day seminars on Elements of Fiction, Food Writing, and Spiritual Essay. Act now to receive the early registration discount.

2. Help WriterHouse earn money by volunteering at Fridays After Five

We still need a few volunteers for this coming Friday (September 4th). Full information and signup.

3. Fall Open House and Instructor Reading

On Sunday September 13 at 7:00pm, come and hear the fall instructors read from their work and ask them questions about their classes. Get a tour of the House and meet other writers.

4. Literary Event: Josh Weil speaks on “The Renegade Form: The Case for the Novella in Contemporary Fiction”

Josh Weil is an award-winning young author whose debut collection of novellas, The New Valley, is an “Editor’s Choice” of the New York Times Book Review. Set in the hill country between West Virginia and Virginia and written in strong, masterful language laced with tenderness, the novellas examine the strength and fragility of familial bonds and the yearning for human connection that runs through the lives of three different men in rural America. Thursday, September 24, 7:00pm. Free and open to the public.
